Media Policy & Public Recording Notice
At HOTSAND® USA, our mission is to highlight the talent, passion, and competitive spirit of amateur athletes and bring visibility to our local sporting community. To achieve this, we capture and publish video coverage, highlight reels, and media content of organized matches and sporting events.
We frequently receive questions regarding media coverage in community spaces. Below is a summary of the legal frameworks and protections that guide our media publications:
-
Recording in Public Spaces: Our content is filmed entirely within public areas. Under United States law and the First Amendment, individuals do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy when participating in open, public events. The right to record and document activities plainly visible in public spaces is fully protected.
-
Editorial & Informational Content: The videos we publish on our social media platforms (including YouTube, Instagram, and others) serve an editorial, informational, and community-building purpose. Because our content documents real-world public sporting events rather than using any specific individual’s likeness to commercially endorse or sell a third-party product, it is protected under standard journalistic and expressive media guidelines.
-
Focus on the Event: Our cameras focus on the scope of the sporting event, the teams, and the competitive atmosphere as a whole, rather than targeting any single private individual.
Our Commitment to the Community
While our right to document public sports is constitutionally protected, we deeply value our local community and the athletes who make these events great. If you are a participant or parent with a specific safety or sensitive privacy concern regarding a piece of footage, please contact us at hotsand@hotsand.net with the specific video link and timestamp, and our production team will review it in accordance with platform guidelines and community standards.
